I had a tough conversation with my 5 year old today. She said "why are you at work so much?" That kinda tore me up. I said "You are right. I have been working too much lately." So, we out for ice cream tonight. Tomorrow night, we will have some other fun.
I have been putting in 12 hour days for the past month, which stinks because it is nice outside. We (me, 2 other engineers, and 4 stilled tradesmen in my department) just got done shipping a fully-automated robot to our Milwaukee plant, for the calibration and test of our latest Engine Control Modules. The robotic cell incorporated an
EPSON Scara 65S robot. On the head of this robot, it had 3 festo cylinders, 1 keyence bar code scanner, 1 Schunk gripper, and 1 ATI tool changer, weighing 6.5 lbs. It was neat to watch, once we got it working. At full speed, it sounded like a Pachinco game. We went from design to shipping in 5 weeks. And it has to run 2 shifts a day when installed. Now, I gotta make sure all of my prints are right, because production wants 4 more.
And... I am trying to start this side business thing, which takes up my evenings, after the kids get to bed.
It's August already? Wasn't it May last week... yikes!
So... with all of that said, a guy has got to have fun. "All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy." OK... back to work.
