Hey, this is a question for all of the photojournalists out there like me. This will be my 3rd year as a journalistic writer and photographer, and looks like I may be taking the leap from SLR to Digital soon. I will be attending a brand new school this year, and as a new school, they have new equipment, and are wanting to start off completely digital. However, the cameras they have right now are all 3.2 megapixles without very good zooming capabilities. I'd say the cameras will be okay for hallway pics, but I am an sports photographer and need to capture the action and keep a good quality. I am in search of a good camera to suggest for the new yearbook to get. here is what I am after
1. Ability to switch from close up to telephoto lens
2. More megapixles (between 4.0-6.5)
3. little to no shutter lag
4. reasonably priced
5. at least up to 1/2000 sec shutter
those are the main features I can think of right now. Last year I used the Canon Rebel EO5, so the digital rebel is in mind right now. I am not sure what my budget is really, but I'm hoping they'll let me have $800-$1500. I am the only experienced person on staff right now, and looks like I may have to be editor if I want it to be any good at all.... just hope this doesn't take away from robotics which I now consider more important. After all,
first things FIRST.
The other choices I am considering are the Nikon
D70 or the
D100
Thanks for your help
