I fail to "get" the segway. As a novelty item, it seems you could get more bang for the buck. As a mode of transporation it seems to fill a small gap between bicycling and walking.
I remember tracking the segway online before it came out, when everyone was buzzing about this revolutionary thing. I used to haunt various forums and I remember someone dug up a patent application for "Ginger," which later turned out to be the segway. At the time, I refused to believe that it was a scooter.

Have you tried hooking up a bicycle computer to your segway, so you could get actual speed? I know a kid did it with his powerchair...
