Great idea Andy- but let's not just hear from those who won, but from anyone who has their info online and is interested in sharing. Some teams won judges awards based much off their chairman's award submissions and interviews (T190 got an award for "Innovative Outreach" from our CA Submission, and I believe I heard other awards given out that sounded very similar).

Many teams have interesting and exciting ideas for promoting FIRST, getting students involved, etc... and I think it would be great to hear from everyone, including those who won!

T190's executive summary can be found at:
http://www.mycrazysite.com/chairmans...g/exec-sum.pdf

And the think to watch our Chairman's Award on the web is:
http://www.mycrazysite.com/chairmansaward (it will automatically start running.. lag may cause some problems with downloading, but you can catch the drift).

A general summary of our submission:

Community:

- In 2000, T190 provided over 30 demos
- In 2001, T190 provided over 50 demos
- We've demonstrated to over 10,000 people to encourage involvement in FIRST, FLL, and Science & Technology in general
- We've provide demonstrations to girl-only audience and have reach over 200 girls with this demos.

FIRST @ Home:

- Hold Mini-FIRST: prep high school students for competition and get them excited
- Training classes
- Host Battlecry @ WPI
- Full-time scholarship offered every year since 1996 (2 offered every other year)
- 2 week public robotics school over the summer for 10th & 11th graders

Diversity:

- Over 100 freshman sign up for team every year
- All hs juniors are given roles on the team
- Current team members come from over 20 different teams
- Have started up over 4 teams and mentor many others

The Six Weeks:

- Team hierarchy organizes students who run all aspects of the team
- Technical Seminars offered for basics of machining, pneumatics, motors and controls
- All students put on teams for brainstorming
