Remember that thread? [10-21-04]

Hi everyone :-).

This week's "Remember that thread?" spotlight a series of discussions happened very shortly before Nationals of the 99' season. There was a serious concern that there might not be enough qualifying rounds at Nationals, the purposed schedule only allowed for 4 to 5 matches for all 200 teams competing at the event.

The result of the concern led to a very interesting discussion of how Nationals worked back then, and eventually to FIRST's solution to the problem. There are lots of threads in this series, more than a week's worth of spotlighting, so this week we will focus in the first half:
