driving practices are definetly going down hill. ive always been amazed that while i cant buy a pocketknife or a lighter, the government has no problem with letting me get behind the wheel of a 5000 lb killing machine (not that i use it that way...). driver ed in my town was a joke. rather than teaching any useful driving skills, they just showed us a lot of accident reports to make us feel guilty about being lousy drivers.

ian - why bother automating the car? just make lousy drivers walk or take the bus.
