Scott,
As I have said it before and I think it needs restating now. Safety is a number one concern when doing remote control and the fact that it is model rockets or the real thing, some form of absolute cutoff needs to be included. You need to know for sure that when you connect the wires to the ignitor, there is no way for you or anyone else to have triggered that output and allowed you to launch with your face over the rocket. I have seen numerous "failsafe" designs fail under unexpected conditions.
