They're not identical. I noticed two differences immediately: the power connections are now blade connectors, and there is a new three-pin header for extending the Prog and Reset buttons.
According to the documentation, you
can use a 2004 RC on a 2005 robot, but you must load updated firmware first. It looks like you can
not use a 2004 OI, however. (I suspect the communication protocol has changed between last year and this year.)
