I think you hit it right on the head. By adding the human player loading zones, there is a greater probability that the human players will be approaching the edge of the field only at designated spots. If everything is being done correctly, those locations will match up to locations occupied by inert robots waiting to be loaded with tetras. If they could load tetras on to the inert robots from anywhere along the edge of the field, there would be a chance that a live robot could also be in front of them and cause a safety hazard. I see this addition as a good move.
