Just a quick note: Traffic is going to pretty bad on Thurs and Friday morning/afternoon if you stay that far outside the perimeter (if you leave really early in the morning and come back late it shouldn't be an issue though). I live north outside the perimeter and work downtown. Without traffic it takes me 25-30min, with traffic it can take an hour or more.

Then again the hotel prices are a bit cheaper. The package deals downtown are really good in my opinion though.

Of course we can't forget MARTA. If the hotel is near a stop then you're all good.
