When they paint htese at the 'factory', they just use a gloss paint over the metal, no primer.
When you're filling in lines and using body filler (thats what the orange stuff is on the SSr) you spray primer as a 'guide coat' it lets you see all the high/low spots that need sanding or more filler. Just a little trick to get it glassy smooth... use it on my real cars all the time
