Go into the programming white papers and look at the different tutorials and sample codes people have posted. It should give you a very good idea of how to write simple autonomous code. Additionally, if you are using sensors like encoders and gyro's then you can use the PID codes which are very simple to write. Still, If you are totally new to C and really don't understand how to write then I would recommend talking to some other programmers in person or through messenger/aim.
