I disagree completely. Removing a joint (or extension) from your arm and losing 2-3 feet of reach for the sake of a greatly simplified, faster, more robust, etc, etc arm can be very well worth it. If you can cap faster and more reliably the majority of the time, you can definitley make up for the few times you get outcapped.
