We spend a very large portion of our build time to CAD the entire robot. We do as much as possible to cut weight on the robot without sacrificing the structural strength, and functionality of the robot. This is why you see a lot of holes around the robot. So yes, it was predetermined to save as much weight as possible when designing the robot.
