There's often threads that I post in that I'd like to follow up on but by the time I'm back on chiefdelphi (with time to reply) the threads are long buried (especially this time of year when there's a new post every 30 seconds) and I forget about them. Email is good but that has a tendency to get buried as well, but if I could get a quick IM alert then I could go reply really fast and go back to what I was doing. Of course, I probably don't need any more distractions when I'm on my computer for school purposes, but it would still be cool.

E-Mail is probably the best we're going to get, for now. I'd suggest looking at email notification programs that sit in your tray .. they beep, or flash, or pop up a message when you get a new e-mail.
