If you are willing to go to a ATO/ATC style fuse they make them in 1,2,3,4,5 amps and larger. The are cheap and you can run them in line with ato/atc fuse holders, similar to the ones found on cars and trucks for aftermarket installations like off-road lights. You could also scope out glass fuses. You can buy the holders and fuses from radio shack for cheap. I know you are probably after the nice auto reset breakers or what not, but they do not come in a package that small. At least I can't find them. You can scope out the site:

I didn't search through the many pages of mouser, but you may find what you need there. Part of what engineering is, is being able to find the information you need in a timely manor. I guess another important thing is to also be able to adapt your design to technology that already exists to keep the cost of the project down. It also helps to keep a folder with important files, and a list of sites in case you need to find something. You can also order catalogs from both of these places.
