'Twas the night before the regional

Written all by me with no help from the other threads. Not as long as the real story and it doesn't keep the rythm perfectly, but I think it's not bad for 20 mins effort.

'Twas the night before the regional when all through the land
Programmers were stirring, giving the next C-code command
The toolboxes were packed and by the door they sat
Ready for repairs after combat.

In the crate alone the bot sits
Waiting till morning when they open then pits
Anxiously the students await the morning
Hoping defensive plays won't earn them penalty warnings.

Then all of a sudden an alarm clock is heard
And outsite the window the sound of a chirping bird.
The morning is come, the regional has here!
Let's go and give them our team spirit cheer!

The air smelled of diesel, from the big yellow bus
We all took our seats as there was strategy to discuss.
As we roll up at the arena look who is there.
Dozens of teams from all over everywhere!

The Circuit Breakers, Beach Cities, and Thunderbots
Wearing shirts with colors and stripes and poka-dots!
To the pits we must go, go right away!
For it is going to be a glorious competition day!

The gears are all lubed up inside their box
With a fast drivetrain it'll be quick as a fox.
The 13 foot arm reaches far into the sky
Other teams look and can only say "oh my!"

The tetras are set and the field is ready
Drivers move the joysticks nice and steady
Refs keep close watch on the loading zones
Penalties are given and the crowd moans

It is not clear who wins, but that is okay
For it has been a wonderful match, don't you say?
Defense and offense are the strategies they play
For it has been a glorious competition day.
