Our school is a preengineering high school. Our classes include things like electronics(single/three phase AC + DC), CAD, CAM, machining(works well when you need to build a first robot
), metal fabrication, fluid power, PLC programming and ladder logic, and I believe they are currently working on expanding our plastics facilities so we can learn more about that(most likely to be finished after I graduate
). We are a small school with around 120 people which allows us a lot of activities that other schools can't have. Many of our classes have integrated activities, like writing reports in English about OSHA standards or creating parts for math for Statistical Process Control.
The curriculum culminates in your senior year with your senior project. Senior projects this year included as automated safety glasses mold/injector and an automated walking quadruped(can't wait to see this thing work) along with several projects that were actually assigned by several sponsoring companies and will actually be used there when they are finished. Needless to say FIRST is a competition that is right up our alley
