hi~
i'm Leslie from 233. i'm from the Space Coast of Florida right by KSC (where rockets launch!) and that has motivated me to wish to aspire to become an astronaut when i get older. i'm a sophomore, so this is my 2nd official year being involved with FIRST on my team, however when i was in 7th grade i got hooked when i visited The Championship Event at Epcot to see my brother's team compete. Being on a FIRST team highly influenced where i wished to go to high school, and because of my decision of where i wanted to go to school, i have also become an IB student (who is currently procrastinating and not studying for the 2 tests and 3 quizzes she has tomorrow, because she would rather surf ChiefDelphi). uhhhm.... at competitions i dress in just board shorts and a pink bikini (because our team theme is the beach... our team color just so happens to be pink) and i paint my entire body (from head to toe.. or at least just what skin is visible) pink.
you might have seen my W.A.I. pic before i changed it because of the rediculous amounts of hits i got on it. i may or may not do that at nationals... you all will just have to wait and see.
i'm about 5' 3" (aka: short, but not as short as some other people on the forums
) with fair skin and i was a brunette but not anymore... you'll just have to wait and see whats different about it at nationals. uhm.. i'm 100% Puerto Rican (boricua hasta la muerte!) and a DDR addict (as well as a FIRST addict). uhmm.. stuff i do outside of FIRST and school includes: playing violin, playing video games (namely Nintendo stuff, with the exception of DDR), traditional and digital painting, drawing and creative writing.
when i go to college (i'm not sure where yet, but i'm considering a few colleges in FL and the University of Colorado (when we went to the Denver Regional i fell in love with the campus and actually got to meat the Dean of Admissions... found out that many astronauts have graduated from that U so i might follow suit
) i'm planning on doing a dual major in English Literature and Physics (not exactly sure if i want to do Astrophysics or Quantum Physics or what yet...) uhmm.. yea... ooo! i should probably talk about what i do with regards to FIRST!
i mentor FLL teams and i referee at local tournaments as well as at the State Tourney, i'm usually at all of the Robot Demos... everywhere. doesnt matter if its at a school or organization or what, i'm usually demoing the robot, spreading the word of FIRST, and getting driving practice in the meantime ^_^ uhmm.. i was the Student Project Manager for the Graphic Design Team and the Chairman's Award... i'm actually one of the student Representatives that presents the chairman's award too. i also [attempted to] try out for both driving positions this year, and got beaten by the boys (but thats okay, theres always next year), and i also work on fundraising and SPIRIT! of course... and i'm not sure but i think i'm a student manager for our new Team History Group. basically, i've only been on the team for 2 years, but i've stretched myself out over a lot of the aspects of FIRST. the only thing i wish i knew more about was how the robot
works... so in light of that, i guess for the time being, i'm a Pit-Crew-Wannabe. this is getting really long... lol so i guess its enough for now. excuse any stupidity in all i've written above, it may not look that late but it sure feels like it, and my typing skills are proof that although sleeping is technically not allowed until the 8hr bus trip home from Atlanta coming home from the Championship event, i should probably consider getting some shut-eye.
