Re: ScoutPro: Team 612's Scouting Application at Atlanta

ScoutPro CD's will be distributed through Team 612's Programming Team. We will try to cover as many teams as possible. If you are interested in ensuring a copy of this valuable resource for your team, email your name and your team number/name to ScoutPro@gmail.com.

An access database is used to store all the data in the current version of ScoutPro, there have been experiments with other kinds (MySQL..most notably) but we decided to go with access.

Apple computers will be supported as long as they have a Java Virtual Machine installed. I know OS X already has java runtime environment as a part of its preloaded package (don't ask me about the other versions of it since I can't remember). Overall, ScoutPro is currently able to support perfectly for Windows, Linux, and Apple. If JRE's are already installed, one can install ScoutPro for the following OS's :
  1. Microsoft Windows
  2. Sun Solaris SPARC
  3. Sun Solaris
  4. Linux
  5. HP-UX RISC I18N for HP-UX 10.20 for HP-UX 11
  6. AIX I18N
  7. Apple Mac's
  8. There are a few other ones that I won't note here

Now, for the picture/video storage capability, previous versions of ScoutPro (that haven't been officially released to the public) have had this support and we found that this feature was more trouble (especially video's) to get working for Java because it requires a few exterior installations for JRE that is installed by the installer. Future versions of ScoutPro can, and probably will, have this capability restored into the interface.

Hope I answered all of the questions that have been placed up to this point. We will see you all at nationals

Ravi
