Mark,
There are several sites that discuss the CMU but you are the better judge of which ones will fill your needs. Just search through Google. The camera was a project of Carnegie Mellon University, hence the CMU designation. The CMU site has some excellent articles. Since our controller is obviously different from yours, I don't think you will find much help on interfacing, here. Our controller does not use VB for programming either. Generally, splitting serial cables to different locations is a bad idea as device contention becomes a problem as the two devices fight over the control. Sorry, we can't be of more help.
