If you want to use American Sign Language, a good site is run by Michigan State at

They give a description and a little video for each word. For Robot the signer mimes the stiff walk associated with robots.

A more promising sign that can be used across the room and hopefully not misinterpreted is FIRST. For that the index finger is twisted to show that something was first.
