The delay was due to a control station problem... during one match, our team had the offending control station and could not control the robot for about 15 seconds AFTER autonomous mode had finished. While our drive team talked to the refs about it, the same thing happened to another team in the next match.

I agree that the delay was annoying, but it was required for fairness. We ended up losing the replayed match anyway, but at least it was a fair loss.
