I don't think you can watch one of his movies, take everything at face value, and consider yourself informed on the issues he presents. Like any filmmaker, he's presenting only one side to the story-one very biased side.

I agree Cory. While he does bring up many points to look at that everyone should, his outcome in terms of opinions or bias shouldn't necessaraly be yours. But remember, Robin Hood steals from the rich to give to the poor and is a great story and moral lesson, but it's not a documentary by any standards as the view of the rich and their reasons arn't listed or described. Apply that here too.
As for the first question, fan, no, supporter, his 1st ammendment rights, yes, and someone who watches his movies, enjoys them, and wants to see others, yes.
