Hehe, I remember those days of waiting for AP scores. Now that I have a collegiate perspective of it, it really isn't that expensive. If you did well you just got a class or two out of the way that in college would have cost you a ton more. In Arizona, by my estimate, it's roughly $440 per 3-credit class. I came into Northern Arizona with 20 AP credits (6 from AP US, 6 from AP Euro, 8 for AP Chem), and spent ~$200 for them. That's about $2,730 saved, and $8 really doesn't seem like a big deal. I'm pretty sure that most people here are going on to more expensive undergraduate schools than NAU, so you're saving even more.
But yes, the College Board is evil. Once your scores are transferred you'll never have to deal with them again. For a non-profit they sure do have a lot of overhead. Capitalist pigs.
