Thanks for the info regarding the cable. I wasn't aware of the differences between RS232 connections. That's why I showed the link above to our mentor and let him decide whether it would work. He bought it, so I assumed he made the right choice since I hadn't even dealt with serial communication until this summer. Is there any type of adapter we can put on the RS232 end of the cable that will make it work as a DCE?

As for wiring the TTL end, I had already looked at that diagram and switched the pins around to correspond with the TTL port on the FRC, but thanks anyway for pointing that out

Yes our cable supports handshaking but no we are not using that feature. We got a cable that supported it just in case the team happens to need it in the future. Is not using the handshaking going to cause a problem for the adapter?
