Thumbs up Google toolbar (for Firefox!)

A beta of the Google toolbar for Firefox has been released. (you must go to the download page with Firefox to get the Firefox download.)

My review of it: (primarily compared with the Googlebar)
Pros:
  • Smaller icons than the Googlebar
  • Comes with the many of the features the Googlebar lacks, such as SpellCheck and WordTranslator.

Cons:
  • Doesn't have the show/hide keyboard shortcut Googlebar does. (Ctrl-F8)
  • The search box doesn't resize to fit your browser window automatically. (Can be done manually, but if you make it big then resize your window, it just chops stuff off.)
  • No ability to add seperators between buttons (and non builtin), so it looks a little crowded.
  • It lacks voting buttons for page rank... odd.
  • You don't have nearly the same button control (what appears) as the Googlebar.

Overall, however, I like it. Once they give it a few more features and get it out of beta, it'll be great! SpellCheck and the WordTranslator alone is worth it.
