tesla coils

me and my friend are making a tesla coil we just started it a few days ago but have most of the parts, but we were wondering if any one else has built on so they could tell use some things that would work or not, or some of the engineers could help

for the primary coil of the tesla coil would it be ok to use wire that has the insulation on it?

does the size of the magnet wire on the secondary coil matter?

does large gauge wire work or like flexible .25 inch ID cooper tubing work better

what could i use for the toroid?

any place for inexpensive high voltage capacitors? we are using a 7500 volt neon sign transformer, so prolly 8000 volt capacitor

does the size of the toroid matter?

and prolly more when we encounter/think of them.

thanks to everyone who helps!!!
