Besides reading text that has been required for classes [and that hasn't happened in almost 4 years], I'd have to say one of my favorite books is
John Hersey's "Hiroshima" . I almost never, ok never read books for pure entertainment purposes but for some reason this book caught my attention and once I started I couldn't stop. I ended up reading it two or three times. It's quite possibly the graphic and disturbing details that kept me from putting it down, but this also means it really not meant for a younger audience or anyone with a really weak stomach. Other than Hiroshima, I can't really think of any other book I truly enjoyed.
I'm more of a magazine guy...and even then I only read about 1/2 the articles.
