[SCRRF]: Class offered for FIRST participants at El Camino Junior College

I wasn't sure where to post this, so I'll do it here (since it is in this area)

Here is another benefit of being affiliated with FIRST Robotics:

As a result of discussions with Beach Cities Robotics last year, Professor Hofmann of El Camino College has graciously designed a class specifically for our FIRST students (and friends).

The course is titled: Basic Machine Tool Operation. It includes both lecture and lab (shop) hours. The course is offered in the Fall, before the FIRST Robotics Challenge season. Therefore, students can take this course and prepare themselves for FIRST and, more importantly, gain valuable experience.

The best engineers have a foundation of practical experience. Unfortunately there are few opportunities for such as this for pre-engineering students to gain structured hands-on practical experience. We are very fortunate to have a school so nearby and offering this course.

Machine Tool Technology 46 (Section 7682)
Fall Semester begins: August 29th (the following Saturday is September 3rd)
Saturdays (except Nov 26th)
9-11:05a lecture
11:15a-3:30p lab

Prof. Ed Hofmann hhofmann@elcamino.edu Ph 310-660-3292

Students who successfully complete this course earn 3 college units. Tuition cost for High School Students at El Camino College is waived (free!).

Please sign-up now and spread the word to other FIRST teams. Also, tell your friends about this course too!

PS: Credits and thanks go to Professor Ed Hofmann, Mark Miller, Dale Hall, Dean Ron Way for getting this course started.
