Re: Gas prices and you

Andy, I can fully appreciate where you're coming from with your concerns. However, what is it that we can do to help those in Louisiana? Contribute money towards rescue and repair efforts. Whether you wish it or not, money is the backbone of any macro-level effort.

To say that gas prices are irrelevant when compared to the suffering of those in New Orleans is discounting the effect of money as a means to help those that are suffering. You know that any rescue effort is going to need gas to work. So these rescue efforts now cost twice as much as they would've before. Guess what that means... any money going towards help is only generating half the effect as it would've with the initial gas price. Not to mention Americans as a whole are going to be less inclined to give their money to others when it's taking such a blow from inflated gas prices.

I agree that those needing help in Louisiana and Mississippi are more important than any issue of gas. However, I also know that the issue of gas has an extremely heavy impact on those same people.
