Not necissarily. I know a couple of new hard drives that were developed within the last 3 years that could handle that. In fact i remember something about them being put into production recently. I love the black one! I really dislike white of blue.

also on the site, it said skip free, and its impossible to have a disc based drive not be able to skip, so its flash, which doesn't skip.
