Alexander's fantasy value is far, far greater than Pennington's. QB's naturally score more points, but there's more quality QB's available, so the points scored by the top RB's are much more valuable. Alexander is the second best RB in the league. Pennington isn't even a second tier fantasy QB. I wouldn't take him as my backup.

Last year (Yeah, Pennington was injured,but he put up numbers comparable to his career averages) Pennington was the 21st best fantasy QB. Guys like Brian Griese scored more points than him (didn't play a whole season either), Joey Harrington, David Carr, etc.

Shaun Alexander was the #2 RB, with only 3 points less than Tiki Barber.

Which one is more valuable?
