Savage Soccer Competition (VEX)

Savage Soccer is an annual competition run by WPI. The competition was originally designed to give new students on Team 190 competition experience before the FIRST season started, but it has now evolved into a stand-alone program to give anyone who is interested in robotics a chance to compete and learn. For the past several years, we have invited local high schools and first teams to compete. This year we are expanding the program to allow teams to compete with either the IFI Robovation kit (previously known as the Edu-bot) and the VEX kit.

The competition is run similarly to FRC, with a kickoff event to announce the game, a short (4 week) build season immediately following kickoff, and a competition event. Like FRC, the game will consist of both an autonomous mode and a manual mode. For those teams who are competing in the FIRST Vex Challenge, this will not conflict, as our competition ends a full three months before the FVC tournament. Plus, it is a great way to practice building and competing with small robots!

The best part about this competition, besides how much fun you will have, is that it is completely free. Last year, we had 14 teams from across New England, and this year we are planning on plenty more. There will also be several remote competitions this year, but the details on those are still being worked out. If you would be interested in hosting a remote competition, please contact us at savage@wpi.edu

For more information please go to http://www.wpi.edu/~savage/

Team Registration is open at: http://users.wpi.edu/~savage/Teams/register.html

Hope to see many of you there.
