My point was that the BeachBots, a team that has an "average" amount of traveling for a West Coast Team, easily doubled 5000 miles. We did fly a good bit of the way, but with the number of people and the distances involved it was cheaper to fly. We did the math and $0.08 per passenger mile is hard to beat, especially when you consider food and lodging in-transit. It helps that our nearest airport, LAX, is a major hub.

I can't speak for other team's mileage, but I know that the Arizona teams drive many hours to get to LA and San Jose. I didn't even mention them in my earlier post, but we are looking forward to returning the favor next year at the Arizona regional.
