Looking Back: 2005 Game Hint

Ok So it's been 11.5 months since we found out the hint for Triple Play, now what I'm wondering is, what exactly did last years hint mean?

Ok, let's break this down fragment by fragment:
While wearing Amethyst colored glasses:
  • The Crystal structure of Amethyst is Tetrahedral, the same shape of the commonly refered to Tetra
  • I'm also guessing that the purple sunglasses were popular in the 1960s, the 6 corresponding to the number of teams, that guess is pretty out there

John Neun gave George Burns the following riddle:
  • Quote:

That afternoon, Neun duplicated the feat. With runners on first and second, Neun snagged a line drive, getting the batter for out #1. Neun then stepped on first base to get a force on the runner who was just off first base for out #2. The runner at second was far off the bag and Neun, clearly with visions of a triple play in mind, ran over and tagged the runner before he could get back to second, completing the unassisted triple.
  • This one was probably solved first, it was one of the few triple plays recorded in baseball history, its the orgin of the game name, Triple play.

"Look closely and you will see something between Pi, You and Me.":
Ok I'm kinda confused on wear to go from here, What is Pi referring to? Is it telling us to look at the Tetrahedral shape of Amethyst?

Well I hope this helps us crack the 2006 game hint, through the analysis of the 05 hint.
