Actually thats a common misconception. Most electronics will just die quietly, that or blow up in a shower of sparks but thats normally high power electronics (Ive had both happen but neither on purpose). Where you get that type of sound is when electricity crosses air and then it's more of a THHHWWWAAAAAPP!
