Re: 2006 Southern California Regionals!

Actually the Pre-Ship Scrimmage will be at Birmingham High this year. After a couple of years of being a joint team, Team 22 has split into Team 22, Chatsworth, and Team 4 High Tech High. Team 4 will host the Scrimmage as the field is stored there. High Tech High uses the Birmingham Gym. For most teams Birmingham is also closer than Chatsworth.

It will be held on Sunday so we can spend Saturday getting the field up and running. We currently have five engineers of various types working on upgrading the field control system, I am one of them. One way or another we will get matches in.

However, if teams are prepared and know how to do little things like set channels manually and change their team number it will help tremendously. In fact I would like to set up a "channel check" station in the queing line so that we can be sure channels are set correctly before teams get to the field. This will help the flow a lot. Any volunteers for this critical position?

We won't start competitive matches until about 10am so San Diego teams can get there. However, the field will probably open for practice earlier than that. Practice will be first come - first served with a free ticket to the front your first time through. We are also considering where to set up a "shooting range" and other field elements so teams can test without having to be on the field. These extra features depend on the space available and the weather.

Our goal is to run matches on a seven minute cycle (regionals run at five minutes). On this schedule everybody should get at least a match per hour. Since not all robots will be ready for their matches, (remember this is a scrimmage not a competition, so we will be flexible on match scheduling) teams that are ready to run when they get there can expect more matches
