So that there is no confusion, solid wire (no strands) will break due to the extreme motion of these robots. Murphy's law dictates that it will happen at the worst possible time.
If however, you are speaking of color, solid colors are best. Following the color code not only helps inspections it helps out someone who is trying to help you find a problem.
