It's a top-secret piece of custom circuitry that will be revealed at competition.
Whay I
can say about it is that it uses autobaud detection; i.e. it expect the @ sign to be the first thing sent to it on bootup. When it receives the I instead, it calibrates to the wrong baudrate.
And yes, I did "borrow" your line.
