You are right, we will look at that red power cable....it could be shorter.

The weight is around 13 lbs. We know that sounds heavy but we have incorporated the battery holding system within the electrical box. Which means we didn't have to build it anywhere else.

The back rail of the box also serves as the rearmost cross-member of the drive train frame. The electrical box actually sits low between the frame rails to help with CG. With the battery,switch and breaker so close to one another no other #6 wire is required. We just have to run the sensor cables and power wires throughout the robot which should not be very much more. All of the power wires are pretty short runs.

It is a tight squeeze in some places but doable. We will try to keep everything neat and labeled.

All of the speed controls are mounted on polycarb. We will wrap any wire bundles that could rub against the aluminum with wire loom or something like that. It is a good point and always should be considered when building boxes such as this. You should try to keep the wires from rubbing against any sharp edges.
