This has since evolved into several different rollers that we tested:
-A similar roller with shorter tubes
-A roller covered with mousepad (mousepad grips the balls really well)
-A roller with wood screws screwed into the ends of the tubes
-And the one we really plan to use, a combination of all three

The roller drives the balls into a mesh collection bin that empties into our bottom-feeding turret.
