Re: So, what did you name your baby?
Our robot is named either ROFLBOT or Materilas. Materilas was a typo on one of our sponsorship packages, and we just found it a funny word. ^_^!
and ROFL... well, here's the official name writeups, lol.
Rofl Bot. Nerds will be nerds, geeks will be geeks, and hopefully all of you know the meaning of rofl. For those who don't use the Internet, it's a nice little acronym for "rolling on (the) floor laughing," best used nowadays as an over-exaggeration to make fun of really bad Net lingo. In this case, we have the hilarity of "rofl," the classic suffix "bot," and the name even plays on a fun little phrase: "rofl buttz." Pronounce it "roffle bot," kinda like a waffle. Nerds unite!
Materilas. Some of you may remember this one from earlier in the year. The sponsor package went out and included a graph about costs and things, which Andrew Neilson, previous webmaster, pointed out to contain, in big letters, the spelling error of "materials" to "materilas." Well, we all had a good laugh at Amanda's expense. Much like last year, this is another bizarre inside joke. It's pronounced like . . . mah-TEER-ah-liss. And it honours our PR Queen.
