Actually, that computer would NOT increase traction, as the Honda Civic is a FWD (Front-Wheel Drive) car, it actually is the worst thing to place weight in the rear of. If you live in a snowy area, that added weight in the rear will make the front tires have LESS grip on the road, which is bad in the snow!

Even if it is sentimental to you, I'd remove that computer ASAP during the winter months, unless you fancy understeering straight into a guardrail!
