I have an access-based application that I built. It does everything I need it to do. I would be happy to send you a copy of it if you wanted one. I know that Team 58 - the Riot Crew of Portland, Maine built a cool one that uses Palms to collect the data and then synchs it up again with the master database. I'm sure Bob Libby would be happy to send you a copy if you emailed the team.
