Alright, I'll have to agree: both need work. #2 was kinda catchy, and is closer to the mark than #1 in my book.

As a person who gets picky about music (yet also play William Shatner at least once a week), I think my main gripe about this exercise is that both of the songs sound derivative. They sound like about half of the songs on the radio--that's a bad thing, in my book. (How many bands have used that odd drowned-out sound effect as seen in #2? And how many have token scratching like #1?)

Personally, I'm of the opinion that with 1,100 teams in this shin-dig (not even counting FLL and FVC), we can do better. Perhaps pass the hat to fund a scholarship for the best student-created FIRST anthem, then accept entries in the fall?
