Truthfully, it depends on the capabilities of your robot, your alliance robots and his alliance robots.

If you believe you can out shoot/score your opponents then then stopping them from scoring is counterproductive.

If [with all the stars aligned and karma smiling sweetly on you] your alliance can only hope to score 30 points then blocking them is just as good.

So, in answer to your question, I'll go with a definate maybe
