Actually, the "steady" factor depends on the center of gravity of robot. So, if the robot is as tall as it can be but the center of gravity is very low then the robot will have no problem. Otherwise the skids are the way to go since the casters need a direction on their axis while the skids don't need any directionality, they just stand there.
