While being what I am and having to listen to very long speeches pretty regularly I have found ways to deal with them.
Wood is very interesting while listening to a speaker, fallow the grains and see what shapes you can form from all the different grains.
A clock (analog) do not look at it as an item to tell time look at it as a level to Mario, this may sound crazy but I have done it before.
Look at other people around you, there is a high chance that they are just as bored as you are and people do some funny things to entertain themselves.

Now do not take this as I do not care or do not listen, just because I am not looking at the speaker does not mean i am not listening to what they are saying. Point is try to listen no matter who the speaker is.
