1. Safety Glasses definitely! I'm very picky about safety glasses so i bring my own.
2. Leatherman/ similar device...

this year i think im going to have to leave my leatherman home... I don't want to check a bag and I'm traveling alone. Which reminds me! Make sure you remind everyone to not try to get on a plane with one!
